MESH

Maximising Employment to Serve the Handicapped (MESH) is an Indian organisation, a member of the World Fair Trade Organisation (WFTO) and Fair Trade Forum India practicing Fair Trade with disabled and leprosy affected crafts artisans, for their rehabilitation.

The Cause

Their intent is to provide opportunities for disabled people and people affected by leprosy to achieve social and economic integration by trading and aspire to provide self-sufficiency for their partners. MESH have clearly defined goals to enable this:

ü  To provide opportunities for disabled people and their dependents, especially those affected by leprosy, to be rehabilitated in order to become self-sufficient

ü  To train disabled people to produce goods suited to their capabilities

ü  To serve as a guide in the selection of what will sell best

ü  To assist in obtaining raw materials

ü  To ensure prompt payment for goods to provide constant cash flow and working capital for continued production

ü  To maintain quality control

ü  To provide guidance to village industries in developing cost sheets which include fair wages for the artisans as well as overheads and profits

ü  To secure orders with the aim of providing full-time employment for disabled people

The products

Certified Fair Trade and handcrafted by disabled or leprosy affected artisans, these products are ethically made as well as being unique as most designs have been crafted specifically for Point of Difference.
